Adoption comes more easily when one is in a familiar surrounding. It is about trust. In designing innovative solutions, the creator must possess plenty of empathy and exercise care in order to connect with the audience to gain their trust.

Adoption is best achieved when the purported solution serves to alleviate a pain point. For an innovative idea to gain traction, it is critical to envision how a solution can serve a pain point that is not apparent now but to a keen eye will occur sometime in the future. When the pain point starts to manifest, the first reaction is shock and then followed by fear. For a creator able to anticipate the needs arising from such an event, not only must the solution be workable but also trusted for it to be adopted.

That is where design, values and skeuomorph come into play. In the design of a use case for the blockchain technology, HashRepos serves to protect the rights to ideas, concepts and creations of the originators. This provides a more level playing field whereby a rent seeker with monopolistic pricing power will be mindful in borrowing ideas without first seeking permission and or paying for the right of use.

Since blockchain technology is so new and therefore alien to most, it is very difficult to put one’s head around it, let alone see its value in alleviating pain points, especially when it is not a physical object that can be touched and felt. The question then is how to make one feel at ease with a concept that cannot manifest itself easily for most to grasp.

First and foremost, the creator must possess values such as care and empathy. Without which, a creator is likely to fall into a gumption trap. Such values shape the beliefs and behaviors, allowing connection with the target audience through sincere conversation and communication. Care means making sure that the solution is of a quality that addresses the pain points. Empathy is the ability of one to be in the shoes of another, and to better appreciate how receptive the latter would to the proposed solution.

A skeuomorpic design helps to place prospective adopters in a surrounding that they are familiar with and better contextualize the solution from their perspectives.

Incorporated in the HashRepos solution is a rig to demo and onboard an interest group that could help to increase adoption of the blockchain technology. There will be features that mimic the world they operate in with the hope that the takeaways will be impactful.
